Chlorinated polyethylene offers several advantages over other copolymers for our purpose. First, the chlorination reaction conducted in solution results in the placement of chlorine atoms at random positions along the polyethylene chain. This aspect is important in the interpretation of properties of copolymers in term of their chemical structure.
